Well today was a really tiring day. I am writing this on 10/8/15 and I can feel various parts of my body aching.
I started at 10:45 from my house. My friend and I walked to the MRT Station. This year the public transport was free and there was so many people. Most people where getting on and of at our station (stadium), promenade and marina bay. Luckily we were not getting of at any of these station. My friend and I went all the way to Marina South Peir and then walked on the shore fore about 30 mins, until we got to a point where there was only a few people. We reached there at 11:30 and we went there to see the air show, and my god was it a good location. The planes where right above us. Once a plane came so fast and was so close that I almost fell down! It was much better then watching it from my house as you could see the planes from very close. I took 500 pictures in total of the planes. Here are some of the best:
The conditions were much better then the other few days. It was a bit hot and I was sweating quite a lot of it. I had to use high shutter speeds as the planes are moving quite fast. After the show we headed back to the MRT station. We bought some drinks and then went to the train. I have to admit the station was so full, but after a while a lot of people got of and the last part of the ride was nearly empty.
I got back home at 13:40. After resting for a while and packing my bags I left the house at 2:30 for gardens by the bay. I left so early to get a good spot, which I did. I was on my cycle and took about 10 mins to reach. I got a place with very few tripods and bushes and had a clear view of the skyline. I waited till 3:50 for my mom to come so that I could go home for tennis. While I was waiting I set up the mat and the tripods. I saw many turns, a bird which I think was a Pita, a lot of sun birds and an otter. Yes an otter in the cbd. When my mom arrived I cycled back home just in time for my lessons.
After my lessons I quickly left the house with my cameras at 17:20. When I reached I got all the tripods set and was taking pictures of turns and sea eagles. After a while my brother arrived for the air show. I should say it was quite slow. After the 50 and helicopters it took nearly an hour for the rest of the things to come. Here is what I could get:
I was legitimately scared as it was looking like it was going to rain and oat one point it started drizzling. I was worried for my equipment. But luckily nothing happened. Here are the firework pictures:
My mom and I waited till 8:40 to see if there was anymore fireworks, but there wasn't so we packed up and went home. It took me 20 mins to get home due to the number of people. There is a cycle path in gardens by the bay which is used by only a few. So I decided to go on it. It was mostly empty till the end where a man was taking up the entire road with his pram. He was also not giving way to me or the other 20 or so cyclists. Also he was saying it is a "foot"path, but he was actually wrong, it was a cycle path. He was also snaking on the road and not going in a satight line. I was right behind him, but I did not ring my bell or say anything, which I wanted to, as I did not want trouble . At one point a cyclists on my right was trying to take over him from the right and the man started walking to the right, even though the cyclist was ringing her bell. So to avoid hitting the man, the cyclist went of road and almost fell of her cycle. Instead of saying sorry, the man started yelling at the cyclist. Many of you would blame me that it was because of me he was going to the right, but he was not at all thinking about the cyclist. He and his wife were not giving and inch of space and also there were bushes on both sides, so one could not overtake.
I wish the road would be better managed. Like next year block the road and give stickers to residents to but on there car so that only residences can use the road. I mean it gets really bad for residence. We have to stay at home and cannot go out at all. They were only allowing residence to use most of the road, but next year they should have a better system so that the residences are not inconvenienced.
