Gulls of BC

Gulls are some of the most challenging group of birds to identify especially for many new birders. Here in BC we officially have 8 species of gulls, but what makes the gulls in BC more challenging to indetify is the fact that the West Coast of North America, especially around BC and Washington, signifanctyly higher rates of hybridisation are seen in all species , including for gulls. This adds even more challenges in the field when trying to decided if the gull is a pure breed or hybrid. Here we will take a look at some of the "pure breed" adult gull species. Juvenile gulls are often challenging to identify and are usually brown in colour. These are some characteristics of gulls which haven't been hybridised. Trip to Kanha

Trip to Kanha National Park Day 1 It has been a long wait but it has finally come, I am finally going to Kanha National park. I went back in January, but this was my reward for finishing my exams! This trip was a solo trip for a photography workshop my a very good photographer by the name of Sudhir Shivaram. I went to him to learn and improve my photography and take it to the next level. I started the trip on 1 st June, the very day after I graduated. This would be my first trip alone and I was very excited to finally travel alone. My flight was with Singapore Airlines. I was traveling on SQ 406, a A380-800. The flight took around 17:10 to Delhi and the flight time was approx. 5:30 hrs. This time, I got to choose my seat and I choose the very last seat on the upper deck. This decision proved to be a good decision as I was one of the very first to get on and I had the seat next to me vacant. I could easily spread and sit and enjoy the two seats. National Day 9/8/15

Well today was a really tiring day. I am writing this on 10/8/15 and I can feel various parts of my body aching. I started at 10:45 from my house. My friend and I walked to the MRT Station. This year the public transport was free and there was so many people. Most people where getting on and of at our station (stadium), promenade and marina bay. Luckily we were not getting of at any of these station. My friend and I went all the way to Marina South Peir and then walked on the shore fore about 30 mins, until we got to a point where there was only a few people. We reached there at 11:30 and we went there to see the air show, and my god was it a good location. The planes where right above us. Once a plane came so fast and was so close that I almost fell down! It was much better then watching it from my house as you could see the planes from very close.
