Red-Legged Crake @ Gardens by the bay

On the 20th of Jan I was roaming through the  Facebook posts on my Facebook feed and then I came accrros a post, rather a picture, of a ruddy brested crake posted in one of the Singapore Birding groups. The person also posted a pic of a red legged crake in GBTB. I really wanted to see the ruddy brested  crake,  so I asked the poster about  the location and she told me that it was in the Chinese Garden in Gardens By The Bay.

On the 22nd I happened to take an off from school to study, so I decided to take a small break and go to the Gardens. I cycled to the gardens and  in about 15 mins I reached the flower dome. I parked my bike in front of the conservatories and walked to the chinese garden.

I reached the chinese gardens and decided to roam around the periphery.I came across another photographer taking a picture of a sunbird on a tree. At that moment I decided to take my camera out of my bag and take picture of the sunbird.

Since I could not see anything there at that time I decided to see somewhere else. After a while I came back to the same place and the same man was still there taking pictures of the same sunbird. I walked about 1 meter and alas I saw the Red-legged crake walking under the bush. I asked him if he saw it and I  was amazed that the other man did not see it. I asked the man that question when the bird went in. So we decided to wait till it came to the opening. We say it scurry to the other side, so since I had no tripod I had more mobility, I decided to go to the other side. While I was on the other side it came out and it was not disturbed by me. It was so close I had to use only 300mm. Here are a few images.

I decided I was too close so I went a bit back. While I was shooting two other photographers had arrived and everyone arrived to the spot I came out. Once we were waiting the entire family came out. After a while I decided to look for the ruddy rested crake. I asked the others  and I told the exact location. I could not find the bird and I had to go back to the shade due to the rain. I waited there for about 15 minutes till it cleared and then I went back home. On my way back I stopped to see the common kingfisher and also I was 2 white bellied sea eagle.
